A very helpful blog to join is that of psychiatrist, Dr Kelly Brogan. She is board certified in psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, and integrative holistic medicine, and is specialised in a root-cause resolution approach to psychiatric syndromes and symptoms.
She has also written books and many articles on mental health and how to empower yourself back to the best health – mental and physical – possible.
The reason I like Dr Kelly Brogan is that she has taken this journey herself, and now – she is on a mission.

Amino acids are the building blocks of protein in the body. Amino acids are needed to make neuro-transmitters which are the chemicals which make our brain work, that affects how we feel, how we function, and what we crave. They are non-toxic, produced naturally in the body and there are no side-effects.”
There are some medical conditions which make taking certain amino acids contra-indicated. So always ask your doctor before taking any amino acid supplements to ensure they are not dangerous for you to take.
When we have had stress over long periods of time we tend to use up more than we can remake, and then we start to have symptoms which are then diagnosed as mental illness.
I have known about Julia Ross’s work with addiction recovery since the late 1980’s. Her work and research is amazing and simple.
She and hundreds of neuro-nutrient practitioners trained by Julia have had great success helping all sorts of problems by testing for deficiencies in amino acid levels and adjusting for deficits or overages.
We crave foods and substances that mimic the effects of the amino acids and neurotransmitters we are deficient in.
There are a number of questionnaires to complete as step one and then later testing a variety of amino acids and developing a plan of taking them for 12 weeks.
Dr Trudy Scott was trained in amino acid therapy by Julia Ross many years ago and I have loaded an interview with her here for you to learn more. It is 75 minutes but very educational and perhaps for some of you, just hearing this information will start a healing Journey for you on this cellular level.
